The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, will launch the ‘School Protection Squad’ initiative in Ogun State as part of efforts to bolster school safety and security.

The Ogun State Police Command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, announced that the unveiling would take place during a two-day event themed “Capacity Building for Security Agencies and Other Stakeholders” on November 26th and 27th, 2024. The programme aims to enlighten stakeholders on proactive steps taken by the Nigeria Police Force to safeguard schools, including rapid response deployments, vehicular patrols, and security training for students and staff.

The event will bring together representatives from sister security agencies, government bodies, traditional institutions, and the private sector. Discussions will focus on strategies to enhance school safety and ensure a collaborative approach to protecting children across the state.

Odutola emphasized that the initiative demonstrates the police’s commitment to securing educational institutions. The public can follow the live proceedings via official police social media channels starting at 10:00 am each day.
