The Kogi State Ministry of Education has inaugurated a committee to investigate examination malpractice during the 2024 West African Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE). Chaired by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Jibrin Saidu Alhaji, the committee is tasked with probing the involvement of schools and individuals, recommending penalties in line with the Kogi State Education Law of 2020, and submitting its findings within one week.

Speaking during the inauguration in Lokoja, the State Commissioner for Education, Wemi Jones, emphasized the government’s zero tolerance for examination fraud, describing it as a threat to the future of students. He assured that the committee’s recommendations would be fully implemented to uphold fairness and justice.

The move follows the West African Examination Council’s (WAEC) recent decision to de-recognize some schools and blacklist supervisors in Kogi State for aiding malpractice during the 2024 WASSCE. The committee includes representatives from WAEC, the Ministry of Justice, and other key education bodies.
