Chief Tunde Fanimokun, a renowned retired “Super Permanent Secretary” in the Lagos State Civil Service and a celebrated octogenarian, will deliver the Year 2025 Distinguished Personality Lecture at Lagos State University (LASU). The lecture, titled “The Practicability of Incorruptible Democratic Dispensation, Bridging Good Leadership: A Case Study of Alhaji Lateef Jakande’s Leadership in Lagos State (1979 – 1983)”, is scheduled for Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at the Aderemi Makanjuola Lecture Theatre, LASU main campus, Ojo.

Chief Fanimokun, a respected administrator, technocrat, and developmental economist, will bring his vast experience to the discussion on leadership and governance, using the exemplary tenure of the late Alhaji Lateef Jakande as a case study. The lecture promises to provide valuable insights into fostering incorruptible democratic governance and bridging leadership gaps in Nigeria.

The event will be chaired by Professor Gbolahan Elias, SAN, Chancellor of Lagos State University, while Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, the Vice Chancellor of LASU, will serve as the Chief Host. LASU, widely recognized as Nigeria’s leading state university, continues its tradition of hosting intellectual discourse to inspire future leaders and policymakers.

According to a press release signed by Thomas-Onashile Oluwayemisi, Coordinator of the Centre for Information and Public Relations (CIPR), all invited guests and members of the university community are expected to be seated by 9:30 a.m. on the day of the lecture. The university anticipates a robust turnout as stakeholders gather to engage with Chief Fanimokun’s wealth of knowledge on leadership and governance.
