The newly elected Executive Committee of the Education Writers Association of Nigeria (EWAN) has reaffirmed its commitment to championing quality reporting and leveraging advocacy as a critical tool for driving transformative change in the education sector. The President of the association, Mr. Mojeed Alabi, made this pledge during his inaugural address, highlighting the association’s renewed dedication to advancing its goals.

Mr. Alabi is currently the Head of the Development Desk at PREMIUM TIMES and boasts a distinguished career in journalism. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, and a Master’s certificate in Diplomacy and Strategic Studies from the University of Lagos. Recognized for his excellence in reporting, Mr. Alabi has won multiple prestigious awards, including the Ibrahim Shekarau Prize for Education Reporter of the Year and the Wole Soyinka Award for Investigative Reporting in the print category.

Beyond his accolades, Mr. Alabi has actively engaged in international conferences and fellowships, furthering his expertise and contributions to journalism. His participation includes the WHO Fellowship to the Road Safety Conference in Brazil, the Global Investigative Journalism Conferences in South Africa and Sweden, and the Global Partnership for Change initiative in Germany. Under his leadership, EWAN aims to strengthen its advocacy efforts and elevate educational reporting to drive meaningful reforms in Nigeria’s education sector.
