A total of 493 Police Constables from Edo and Delta States passed out on Thursday from the Police Training School in Benin City, Edo State. These new recruits were part of the 10,000 Police Constables enrolled in the 2022 intake Course 3 of 2024 under the Nigeria Police recruitment initiative.

The passing-out ceremony was officiated by Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), who was represented by Arungwa Nwazue Udochukwu, the Assistant Inspector-General for Zone 5, which covers Edo and Delta States. Udochukwu emphasized that the training and passing-out parade of the constables took place across four Police Colleges and 12 Police formations nationwide.

In his remarks, Udochukwu highlighted the significance of the event, noting that it was part of President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to addressing the manpower gap in the Nigerian Police Force. The recruitment of 30,000 new police officers is a key strategy to improve security and tackle the rising security challenges across the country.

The passing-out ceremony marks a significant milestone for the recruits as they are now ready to serve and contribute to the safety and security of their communities. The successful completion of their training is seen as a step toward strengthening the Nigerian Police Force in its ongoing efforts to combat insecurity and maintain law and order.
