Staff members of the Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, are grieving the tragic death of one of their colleagues, Mr. Olisaemeka Chukwuma, who was killed in his home at St. Bridges area of Umueji, Asaba, over the weekend. Chukwuma, 56, worked in the university’s Bursary Department and was known for his peaceful demeanor.

The tragic incident occurred during one of his routine weekend visits to Asaba, the Delta State capital. His death has left the university community in shock, with many describing him as a cheerful and kind-hearted individual. The institution’s bursar, Mrs. Otimeyin Ekakitie-Omajuwa, expressed her grief, describing the loss as “shocking and unexpected.” She praised Chukwuma for his jovial and friendly nature, noting that he maintained harmonious relationships with everyone.

A fellow staff member, Mr. Moses Darah, mourned Chukwuma on social media, highlighting his peaceful disposition and urging law enforcement authorities to investigate the case thoroughly. “I urge the police authorities to thoroughly investigate this incident and bring the perpetrators to justice,” Darah wrote, while also lamenting the rising insecurity in Asaba.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe, stated that the matter was under investigation. Meanwhile, the university community and Chukwuma’s family are calling for swift justice and praying for the fortitude to bear the loss of a man remembered as a beacon of positivity.
