The School for the Gifted, Gwagwalada, Abuja, which once faced severe deterioration due to dilapidated infrastructure, has undergone a remarkable transformation thanks to the intervention of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike. The school’s principal, Bello Adamu Audu, described the renovation as a lifeline for the institution, which was on the brink of collapse.

“Before the minister’s intervention, the school was in a state of sorrow,” Audu stated, recounting the cracked walls, broken toilets, and collapsing roof that made learning nearly impossible. However, the refurbishment has rejuvenated the school, with freshly painted walls, new fans, and upgraded facilities creating a conducive environment that fosters learning and inspires both students and staff.

Students and teachers expressed their gratitude for the facelift, highlighting the significant improvement in the learning atmosphere. One student noted that, previously, the broken boards and crumbling walls were constant distractions, but the renovated environment has made focusing on studies much easier.

Despite the improvements, the school community emphasized the need for further enhancements, such as more chairs, modern books, and better library facilities, to complement the ongoing transformation. The intervention by Minister Wike has been lauded as a major step towards restoring the school’s former glory and enhancing educational opportunities for gifted students in the region.
