The University College London (UCL) has announced the launch of its 2025/26 Global Undergraduate Scholarship, designed to provide financial support to international students from low-income backgrounds who aspire to pursue full-time undergraduate degrees at UCL. The prestigious scholarship program seeks to make higher education at one of the world’s leading institutions more accessible by covering tuition fees and offering additional financial allowances to successful applicants.
To be eligible for the UCL Global Undergraduate Scholarship, candidates must be from a country outside the UK and qualify for the Overseas fee rate. Additionally, applicants must come from a low-income background as defined by UCL’s financial guidelines. Students must also have applied for a full-time undergraduate program at UCL for the 2025/26 academic year. Notably, an offer of admission is not required at the time of scholarship application, but candidates must have their fee status confirmed by UCL Admissions. Those who face difficulty accessing the application form close to the deadline are encouraged to contact UCL’s Student Funding Office (SFO) for alternative submission options.
For the 2025/26 academic year, UCL will award up to 33 scholarships, categorized as follows:
- 10 scholarships covering full tuition fees, a maintenance allowance, and a fixed sum for additional costs, including visa fees and the UK Immigration Health Surcharge.
- 23 scholarships covering full tuition fees only.
- 3 scholarships exclusively for students from India, covering full tuition fees.
The exact financial allowances for maintenance and additional expenses will be announced at a later date.
The application process requires candidates to first submit an admission application to UCL. Once completed, they can access the scholarship application via the university’s online Portico portal. The process involves selecting the ‘Funding’ tab under the ‘Active Application’ section and applying for the UCL Global Undergraduate Scholarship from the list of available funds. Each application must be submitted separately for every program a candidate seeks funding for. The application deadline for the scholarship is April 28, 2025, and late or incomplete applications will not be considered. More details, including the application form and specific funding guidelines, can be found on the official UCL website.
