In a landmark move to boost technical and vocational education in Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed the Federal Polytechnic Rano Bill into law, paving the way for enhanced educational opportunities in Kano State and beyond.

Senator Sumaila Kawu, representing Kano South Senatorial District, hailed the president’s action, describing it as a transformative step for the state and the nation. Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Kawu emphasized that the institution would empower young Nigerians with vital technical skills, preparing them for an increasingly competitive job market.

“This is not just a victory for our community but a game-changer for Kano State and Nigeria as a whole,” Kawu said. “With this polytechnic, we are ensuring that our youths have access to quality vocational education, equipping them with the necessary skills to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s development.”

The senator commended Hon. Kabiru Rurum, who sponsored the bill, for his unwavering dedication to the cause. He also appreciated the efforts of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau, Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen, and other lawmakers for their role in passing the bill.

Kawu called on the Kano State Government and citizens to support the initiative, urging collective efforts in realizing the institution’s full potential.

“As we align with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, let us come together to build a brighter future for Kano South, Kano State, and Nigeria,” he urged.

The establishment of Federal Polytechnic Rano is expected to uplift the educational landscape, providing students with specialized training in various technical fields and contributing to Nigeria’s drive for industrialization and economic growth.
