In a statement, the Chairman of ASUU Kaduna State University branch, Dr. Peter Adamu, acknowledged the state government’s goodwill in addressing the union’s demands. He noted that the government had released funds to pay 60 percent of the withheld salaries from September 2017 and the Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) supervision allowance for five sessions.

Dr. Adamu further stated that the Kaduna State Government agreed to a timeline for the payment of five months’ withheld salaries from May to September 2022, promotion arrears, earned academic allowances, pension remittances from 2009 to 2019, death benefits, and group life assurance. Additionally, he highlighted the government’s commitment to implementing a wage award and granting autonomy to Kaduna State University.

The union commended Governor Sani for his prompt intervention and leadership in resolving the issues that led to the strike. According to ASUU, the Governor’s approach represents a significant departure from previous administrations, where members were victimized for participating in lawful strike actions.

ASUU expressed optimism that the government’s commitment to fulfilling the agreed terms would foster a more harmonious relationship between the university staff and the state administration, ultimately enhancing the educational environment at Kaduna State University.
