Team Stark Underflow from Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has emerged the winner of the 3rd Cavista Technologies Hackathon, clinching the N2 million grand prize. The team triumphed over 29 other teams, comprising over 100 students, in the competition held at Yaba College of Technology, Lagos. The 2025 edition, themed “Smart Automation: Enhancing Care Through Integrated Systems,” challenged participants to develop innovative solutions for automation in various industries.
The event attracted notable dignitaries, including the Minister for Youth Development, Hon. Ayodele Olawande, who emphasized the growing impact of technology on daily life. He highlighted the government’s commitment to fostering technological skills development through public-private partnerships. “Automation has become a key driver of services in Nigeria, and I urge young people to harness their creativity and innovative prowess to make a solid impact,” he stated. Oyebola Morakinyo, General Manager of Cavista Technologies, encouraged participants to push boundaries, embrace bold ideas, and learn from their mistakes as part of the innovation process.
Other winners of the competition included Team Trendsetters from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), which secured second place and a prize of N1 million, while Team TechStars, also from UNILAG, finished third, earning N500,000. In addition to the cash prizes, participants benefited from mentorship, networking opportunities, and collaborations to further develop their technological skills. Students from LASUSTECH, LASU, YabaTech, and UNILAG participated in the competition, reinforcing the hackathon’s goal of nurturing young tech talents.
