The Board of Trustees of Wigwe University has appointed Honourable Justice Amina Adamu Augie, CON, JSC (Rtd.) as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council and Professor Marwan Al-Akaidi as the institution’s Vice-Chancellor. The announcement was made in a statement signed by the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Prof. Fabian Ajogwu, OFR, SAN, on Thursday, February 19, 2025.

According to Prof. Ajogwu, these appointments highlight Wigwe University’s commitment to academic excellence, leadership, and innovation. Justice Augie, who has had a distinguished legal career, succeeds Professor Julius Okojie, OON, as the new Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council. Her appointment is expected to strengthen governance and policy direction at the university.

Meanwhile, Professor Al-Akaidi has been confirmed as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of Wigwe University. Before this appointment, he served as the acting Vice-Chancellor, Dean of the College of Science and Computing, and Deputy Vice-Chancellor responsible for research and innovation. His leadership is expected to drive the university’s academic and technological advancements.

The appointments mark a new chapter for Wigwe University, positioning it as a center for cutting-edge research, innovation, and world-class education. The Board expressed confidence that both leaders will contribute significantly to the institution’s growth and global recognition.
