Port Harcourt, March 7, 2025 – The Rivers State Government has appointed Prof. Zeb-Obipi as the new Vice-Chancellor of Rivers State University (RSU). The announcement was made in an official government statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Tammy Danagogo, in Port Harcourt on Thursday.

According to the statement, the appointment takes immediate effect. Prof. Zeb-Obipi succeeds Prof. Nlerum Okogbule, who was appointed by former Governor Nyesom Wike on March 5, 2020.

Before his appointment, Prof. Zeb-Obipi was a Professor of Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management at RSU. He also served as the Director of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre at the university.

The new Vice-Chancellor is expected to lead the institution into a new phase of academic and infrastructural development. His appointment is seen as part of the state government’s efforts to strengthen higher education and promote excellence in the university.
