Abuja – In preparation for the 2025 Mock-UTME and Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has successfully trained no fewer than 2,661 proctors on its examination processes.

During the training, JAMB outlined rules of engagement for the proctors, urging them to be diligent and to uphold the highest ethical standards. The board also congratulated the participants for being among the select few deemed competent for appointment and encouraged them to view their engagement as a national service.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, emphasized that proctors must be computer literate and capable of assisting candidates with technical issues during the examination. He further charged them to register with JAMB and create a profile code, which would be submitted to the Secretary of the Chief External Examiners for future correspondence with the board.

To prevent infiltration by unqualified individuals, Prof. Oloyede directed the proctors to wear identification cards provided by the board in addition to any personal ID. He also disclosed that JAMB had revised its remuneration package for proctors, noting that while the payment was an incentive rather than full compensation, it aligned with the Federal Government’s March 31, 2025, regulations and global best practices.

The training session was led by JAMB’s Information and Technology Consultant, Mr. Damilola Bamiro, who stressed the importance of trust and professionalism in the proctors’ duties. He highlighted their strategic role in ensuring a smooth examination process and urged them to be punctual and vigilant.

Bamiro provided an in-depth overview of the examination procedures, covering centre structures, moral obligations, the proper filling of report forms, and mandatory attendance of preparatory meetings. He warned against infractions, extortion, or any actions that could undermine the examination process.

The proctors were also reminded of critical guidelines, including:

• Strict adherence to the list of prohibited objects within examination halls.
• Proper biometric verification procedures.
• Compliance with the checklist before the commencement of examinations.
• Ensuring that no candidate enters the hall an hour after the exam starts.
• Preventing candidates from leaving the hall within the first hour of the examination.

JAMB reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a seamless and credible examination process, emphasizing the crucial role of proctors in maintaining the integrity of the UTME.
