Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has approved the release of ₦266.9 million for the payment of tuition fees for 100 indigent students currently studying at various universities in India. The financial support is aimed at easing the academic burden of the beneficiaries and further demonstrates the administration’s commitment to human capital development through education.

The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Higher Education, Isah Abubakar-Tunga, during a press briefing on Friday in Birnin Kebbi. He commended Governor Idris for what he described as a bold step toward educational empowerment and social upliftment, especially for students from underprivileged backgrounds.

Abubakar-Tunga stressed that the initiative is part of the state government’s broader plan to invest in the future of Kebbi youth by providing access to quality international education opportunities. He urged the sponsored students to show appreciation by excelling academically and maintaining discipline throughout their studies abroad.

He concluded by reaffirming the government’s resolve to continue supporting education as a tool for socio-economic development, and called on other students to draw inspiration from the beneficiaries’ success and hard work.
