Lagos State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Tolani Sule, has revealed plans by the state government to establish a multi-campus University of Medicine in Badagry, aimed at boosting development and creating employment opportunities in the ancient town. Mr. Sule made the announcement during the inauguration of the newly remodelled Badagry Town Hall, held as part of a valedictory ceremony for the outgoing council chairman, Hon. Olusegun Onilude.

According to the commissioner, the upcoming institution will not only enhance access to tertiary education in the region but also upgrade the Badagry General Hospital into a teaching hospital to support the university’s medical training needs. He emphasized that the initiative would open doors to professional and economic advancement for local residents, especially the youth. “This will create employment opportunities for all and sundry in the town,” Mr. Sule stated.

Commending Onilude for his achievements in infrastructure and governance, Mr. Sule praised the outgoing chairman’s leadership style and integrity, noting his significant contributions to education and development in Badagry. He urged residents to continue supporting the current administration and reaffirmed that Badagry remains a vital part of Lagos State’s identity and future plans.
