The University of Jos branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has issued a warning strike directive to its members following the non-payment of their June 2025 salaries. The decision was communicated on Thursday night, July 3, 2025, by the branch chairman, Professor Jurbe Molwus, in a message circulated to all academic staff.

In the message, Prof. Molwus urged members to boycott all lectures and statutory university meetings if their outstanding salaries were not credited by 11:59 p.m. on July 3. He emphasized that the action was necessary due to what he described as the “consistent neglect and insensitivity of the government” toward university lecturers’ welfare.

This development adds to the growing tension between academic unions and the federal government over issues of salary delays, welfare, and funding for tertiary institutions.
