The Rotary Club of Ikoyi Metro recently welcomed the District Governor of Rotary International District 9112, Lanre Adedoyin, during a vibrant fellowship meeting held in Lagos, marked by strategic discussions, impactful giving, and a celebration of service.
Accompanied by members of his entourage, Governor Adedoyin reviewed the club’s project workbook in collaboration with the United President, Alexander Chukwu, and his executive board. The meeting featured detailed deliberations on the club’s upcoming initiatives, with the Governor offering key insights, commendations, and formal approvals.
“Rotary thrives on structure and impact,” DG Adedoyin stated.
“I’m impressed with the depth of vision from RC Ikoyi Metro, particularly the balance between project execution and membership development. This is how sustainable Rotary service is built.”
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of scholarships to 15 students from three public schools within the club’s adopted community:
- Government Senior College
- Ireti Senior Grammar School
- Girls Senior Secondary Grammar School
The scholarship awards reflect the club’s commitment to education and youth empowerment, one of Rotary’s key areas of focus. The initiative was met with excitement and gratitude from beneficiaries and school representatives alike.
In addition to its educational outreach, the club used the occasion to raise funds in support of The Rotary Foundation, Rotary International’s global charitable arm dedicated to humanitarian efforts across the world. Contributions were spearheaded and moderated by DG Adedoyin, further cementing the club’s dedication to Rotary’s international causes.
The fellowship gathering underscored RC Ikoyi Metro’s growing influence within the district, blending strategic leadership, community impact, and global solidarity in one inspiring evening of service.
As Rotary International continues to champion peace, education, health, and economic empowerment across the globe, the activities of clubs like Ikoyi Metro exemplify the enduring spirit of “Service Above Self” in action.
