Oluremi Tinubu to Grace King’s College Old Boys’ 116th Founders Day

First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, will serve as the special guest of honour at the 116th Founders Day celebration of King’s College Old Boys’ Association (KCOBA), tagged Kingsweek 2025. The event, scheduled to run from September 15 to 21 in Lagos, is themed “The King’s College Legacy: Honouring the past, empowering the future.” It aims to celebrate the institution’s heritage while setting a vision for its continued impact on education and nation-building.

Addressing reporters ahead of the event, KCOBA President, Dr. Leke Oshunnuyi, described the theme as timely and relevant, noting that it captures the essence of the college’s historical contributions and its role in shaping future generations. He highlighted that the major feature of the week will be the 116th Annual Founder’s Day Lecture and Annual Dinner, holding on Saturday at the Metropolitan Club, Lagos, with Senator Tinubu’s presence underscoring the importance of the milestone.

Oshunnuyi further explained that the lecture series remains a platform for thought leadership, reflection, and national dialogue. According to him, it provides an opportunity for stakeholders to examine pressing issues while inspiring current and future generations of students. The participation of the First Lady, he said, is a recognition of the college’s influence and enduring relevance to the Nigerian educational landscape.

The week-long activities will open on September 16 with a virtual conference bringing together members of the association in the diaspora and local participants. Discussions will focus on “Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Education in Nigeria,” reflecting KCOBA’s commitment to addressing contemporary challenges in education and preparing for the opportunities ahead.
