The Katsina State Scholarship Board has confirmed the approval of more than ₦372 million in bursary allowances for 24,452 continuing students by Governor Dikko Radda. The development, announced in a statement by the board’s Executive Secretary, Dr. Aminu Salisu-Tsauri, on Tuesday in Katsina, was described as a demonstration of the governor’s commitment to human capital development. He noted that the decision underscored the administration’s belief that education remains the foundation for peace, prosperity, and sustainable development.

Salisu-Tsauri highlighted that the state government had consistently prioritized students’ welfare through regular bursary disbursements since Radda assumed office. He revealed that over ₦637.9 million had previously been disbursed to 47,935 students covering the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 sessions, while another ₦544.2 million was distributed to 37,802 students in the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 sessions. Similarly, more than ₦744.1 million was provided to 50,438 students in the 2022/2023 and 2023/2024 academic cycles.

The executive secretary further disclosed that preparations are underway for the 2024/2025 scholarship approvals, which will benefit 12,609 fresh students. He added that the forthcoming award will also feature categories for academic excellence and special scholarships for students with special needs, to be officially unveiled during the inauguration ceremony to be presided over by Governor Radda.

With the latest approvals, the total number of beneficiaries under the current administration has risen to 174,461 students. Salisu-Tsauri assured that the board was making arrangements to ensure seamless and timely disbursement of the newly approved bursary funds. He also commended the governor for extending opportunities beyond local support by sponsoring Katsina students to study abroad in highly specialized and competitive fields, further lifting the state onto the global stage.
