The Olubadan-designate, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has described the life and accomplishments of Ibadan-born business mogul and philanthropist, Bashorun Kola Daisi, as worthy of emulation. Oba Ladoja, accompanied by his entourage, visited Bashorun Daisi at his Iyaganku, Ibadan residence on Monday despite the crowd that had gathered at his own Bodija home. The monarch-in-waiting said the multi-billionaire businessman, founder of Kola-Daisi University, remains his mentor and a shining example of leadership and service.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Media Aide, Adeola Oloko, Oba Ladoja extolled the virtues of the 92-year-old corporate titan. “Baba, you may not know how much you mean to us. You are an inspiration. We value your contributions to our socio-economic development. We value your academic exploits all through our alma mater, Ibadan Boys High School in 1951 to the London School of Economics. The lives you have touched through your business investments and philanthropy are by no means negligible,” Ladoja said, praying for more years of good health for the elder statesman.
The Olubadan-designate also acknowledged the influence of other prominent Ibadan figures who, alongside Bashorun Daisi, shaped his outlook on life. He mentioned the likes of Asiwaju Bode Amao, the late Dr. Victor Olunloyo, late High Chief Omowale Kuye, late Barrister Kareem Latunji, and late Otunba Subomi Balogun as exceptional individuals whose legacies continue to inspire him. According to him, humanity is blessed to have such a galaxy of stars whose footsteps provide a guide for future generations.
Responding, Bashorun Kola Daisi expressed deep gratitude to Oba Ladoja and his entourage for the visit. Flanked by his son, the Osi Olubadan-designate, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, the nonagenarian congratulated Oba Ladoja on his emergence as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland. He noted that longevity plays a vital role in the Ibadan chieftaincy system and expressed pride at witnessing this historic moment. He prayed for God’s wisdom, knowledge, and understanding for Oba Ladoja as he prepares to take up the revered throne.
