NECO Honours Staff, Pupils at Productivity Awards

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has honoured its workers and outstanding pupils for their hard work, dedication, and excellent performance. The recognition came during the council’s 2024 Staff Productivity Awards held in Minna, the Niger State capital.

Speaking at the event, the Registrar and Chief Executive of NECO, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, explained that the awards were instituted to celebrate productivity and encourage commitment among both staff and learners. He noted that the initiative recognises contributions from workers at the zonal, state, and headquarters levels, as well as pupils who excelled in NECO examinations during the year.

According to him, the award categories included certificates for retirees, commendations for hardworking and dedicated staff, and special prizes for the best state coordinator, best driver, and top-performing pupils. He stressed that the awards not only motivate recipients but also inspire others to work harder towards achieving the council’s objectives.

Prof. Wushishi also highlighted key achievements of the council under his administration, including the successful and transparent conduct of internal examinations, timely release of results, rancour-free staff promotions, and the development of ICT software to enhance operations. He expressed appreciation to stakeholders for their support in the last three years, assuring that NECO would continue to uphold excellence and integrity in its activities.
