The Chairman of Eredo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Lagos State, Mr. Monsuru Akinloye, on Wednesday launched the distribution of 80,000 exercise books to pupils in 19 public primary schools within the council. The programme took off at RCM Primary School, Odomola, where excited pupils received their first sets of books.

Akinloye explained that the initiative was designed to improve literacy among pupils while reducing the financial pressure on parents. He described it as a practical demonstration of the dividends of democracy at the grassroots, adding that no child in the council would be left out of the exercise.

Schools that benefited in the first phase include RCM Primary School, Odomola, AUD Primary School, Odo-Egiri, UPE Primary School, Iraye, Government Demonstration Primary School, Noforija, LG Primary School, Noforija, and Pobo Primary School, Poka. Distribution will continue on Thursday across other schools in the LCDA.

“Education remains the most powerful tool for empowering our children and preparing them for leadership,” Akinloye said, assuring that the council would also provide more learning materials and upgrade facilities to strengthen education delivery. Teachers at the event commended the initiative, noting that the free books would boost learning and motivate pupils to take their studies more seriously.
