Nigerian Navy has announced the commencement of recruitment into its Basic Training School Batch 38, opening doors for young Nigerians to serve in the nation’s maritime defence. The online registration exercise will run from October 2 to October 31, 2025, and applicants are encouraged to apply free of charge via the official portal: https://www.joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng.

According to the Navy, only Nigerian citizens by birth with a valid National Identification Number (NIN) are eligible to apply. Applicants must be of good character, free from any criminal convictions, and must not belong to any secret society, cult, or fraternity. Interested candidates are to complete the online form and print out key documents, including the Acknowledgement Form, Parent/Guardian Consent Form, Local Government Attestation Form, and Guarantor’s Certification Form, while multiple applications will lead to automatic disqualification.

For educational qualifications, applicants with O’level results must be between ages 18 and 22 as of December 31, 2025, while those with OND or NCE must be between 18 and 26 years old. Chaplain/Imam Assistants and Drivers/Mechanics must fall within the age bracket of 18 to 28. A minimum of five credits, including English and Mathematics, at not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, GCE, or NABTEB obtained not earlier than 2015, is required. In addition, those applying as medical assistants, nurses, or allied professionals must provide proof of registration with relevant professional bodies, while skilled tradesmen such as tailors, carpenters, plumbers, masons, welders, and technicians must submit Trade Test certificates. Sportsmen and women are also required to present certificates or medals as proof of their achievements.

The Navy stated that the recruitment examination will hold nationwide on November 29, 2025, at designated centres. Applicants must bring along the Attestation Form with a passport photograph of the signer, as well as a valid form of identification such as a Driver’s License, International Passport, or National ID Card. Successful candidates will undergo basic military training before being officially enlisted as Ordinary Seamen in the Nigerian Navy.
