Excitement and optimism filled the air in Uyo on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, as thousands of job seekers from across Akwa Ibom State converged on the Civil Service Auditorium to take part in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) for the ongoing state civil service recruitment exercise approved by Governor Umo Eno.

The landmark exercise, which kicked off today, represents a major stride in Governor Eno’s commitment to transparency, fairness, and meritocracy in public sector employment. In preparation for the CBT, the state government rehabilitated the Civil Service Auditorium and equipped it with over 400 new computers, modern networking facilities, and a reliable power supply system—creating a seamless, fully digital testing environment.

According to officials, the recruitment test will hold in five streams daily, allowing candidates to receive their scores instantly after completing the exam—an innovation that ensures credibility and efficiency in the selection process.

Some candidates who spoke to reporters expressed gratitude to Governor Eno for providing equal opportunities to all applicants, describing the digital testing format as a “game changer” in the state’s civil service recruitment history. They lauded the administration for its emphasis on fairness, accountability, and the use of technology to enhance governance.

Among top officials present to supervise and monitor proceedings were the Commissioner for Science and Digital Economy, Dr. Frank Ekpenyong; Commissioner for Information, Dr. Aniekan Umanah; Rector of the Digital Academy and Skills Acquisition Centre (DASAC), Prof. Enoidem Usoro; Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Michael Effiong; and representatives from the Office of the Head of Civil Service and the Civil Service Commission.

It will be recalled that Governor Umo Eno had earlier approved the recruitment of 4,000 workers into the Akwa Ibom State Civil Service to strengthen the state’s workforce and meet the personnel needs of its Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
