The Federal Government of Nigeria has opened the application portal for the National Common Entrance Examination into Federal Technical Colleges across the country, reaffirming its commitment to free technical and vocational education for young Nigerians.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by Folasade Boriowo, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education. She said the development followed the approval of the initiative by the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa.
According to Alausa, registration for the NCEE will commence on January 26 and close on May 24, while the examination is scheduled to be conducted nationwide on June 6. He explained that the exercise aligns with the Federal Government’s strategy to expand access to quality technical and vocational education and equip youths with practical, employable, and industry-relevant skills.
The minister urged prospective candidates to complete their applications through the online portal of the National Business and Technical Examinations Board, noting that possession of a valid National Identification Number (NIN) is mandatory and a prerequisite for successful registration.
Alausa reiterated that education in Federal Technical Colleges is fully funded upon admission, underscoring the government’s resolve to strengthen human capital development, promote youth empowerment, and enhance national productivity.
He added that candidates between the ages of 13 and 20 are eligible to apply, advising parents, guardians, and prospective candidates to strictly comply with all application requirements. The minister assured that the ministry remains focused on widening access to free, quality technical education to promote self-reliance, support economic growth, and drive sustainable national development.
