In a major boost for aspiring undergraduates, Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has unveiled a free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration scheme for 1,500 students across the district.
The lawmaker made the announcement in a statement shared on his official X page on Wednesday, describing the initiative as part of his commitment to ensuring that financial hardship does not block qualified students from accessing higher education. According to him, education remains “the foundation upon which lasting development is built,” stressing that no capable student should be left behind because of cost.
The programme will cover students drawn from the nine local government areas that make up Delta North Senatorial District — Aniocha North, Aniocha South, Ika North East, Ika South, Ndokwa East, Ndokwa West, Oshimili North, Oshimili South, and Ukwuani.
“In furtherance of my commitment to human capital development, I am pleased to announce the commencement of a free JAMB UTME registration drive for 1,500 students from the Delta North Senatorial District for the 2026 academic year,” Nwoko stated.
He outlined clear eligibility conditions for interested applicants. Beneficiaries must be at least 16 years old by September 30, 2026, and are required to generate their JAMB profile code using their National Identification Number (NIN). Applicants are also expected to provide their full name, JAMB profile code, and council ward to aid proper documentation and verification.
The senator set Sunday, February 15, 2026, as the deadline for applications, urging students to complete their registration through the designated online portal.
Reaffirming his focus on youth empowerment, Nwoko said he remains resolute in promoting policies and programmes that widen access to education, equip young people with opportunities, and strengthen the long-term social and economic future of Delta North.
The intervention comes as JAMB has officially commenced registration for the 2026 UTME nationwide. Registration for UTME candidates, including those from foreign countries, runs from January 26 to February 28, 2026, while e-PIN vending began on January 19 and ends on February 26.
For Direct Entry (DE) candidates, the sale of application documents and e-PINs will begin on March 2 and close on April 25, 2026. DE registration will take place only at JAMB zonal and state offices.
JAMB has also announced three categories of e-PINs for the 2026 exercise: Direct Entry at ₦5,700; UTME only without mock at ₦7,200; and UTME with mock at ₦8,700. The board explained that the fees cover application charges, reading texts, CBT registration, service and bank charges, and mock examination costs where applicable.
