In the true spirit of love and community, Divine Breeds International School (DBIS), Arab Road, Kubwa, Abuja, has once again demonstrated that Valentine’s season is not just about celebration—but compassion in action.
The 2026 edition of the school’s annual “Shop for Free” outreach on Friday 13th February, turned Arab Road into a corridor of joy as residents, passers-by, commercial bike riders, and families gathered outside the school gate to select items freely provided by the school.
The initiative, designed as a give-back to the host community, allowed beneficiaries to choose from a wide range of essential items including foodstuffs, cooked rice, clothes for children, youths and adults, shoes, bags, and other household needs. There were no tickets, no payments, and no discrimination—only open hands and grateful hearts.
This year’s event recorded a remarkable moment when a representative from an orphanage home in Byazhin arrived to select clothes for children under her care. Visibly emotional, she expressed deep appreciation to the school management and prayed for the continued growth and prosperity of the institution.
Commercial motorcycle riders (popularly known as okada riders), elderly residents, struggling families, and children all participated in the outreach. Many left with full hands and fuller hearts, showering prayers and words of gratitude on the school for remembering the community in such a practical way.
Speaking with community members, it was evident that the annual outreach has become a highly anticipated event in the area, reinforcing the bond between the school and its host environment.
