The Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, Salisu Ogbo Usman, has approved the appointment of Uredo Omale as the new Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the institution.

The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was conveyed in a letter signed by the university’s Registrar, Yahaya Segun Alilu, and made available to journalists in Kogi State on Wednesday.

Until her new appointment, Omale served as Director of Public Relations and Protocol at Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, where she held the position for six years between 2020 and 2026.

Described as a seasoned communications professional, Omale is recognised for her contributions to institutional communication and public relations practice within the education sector.

During her tenure at Kogi State Polytechnic, she was credited with strengthening the institution’s public image through effective media coordination and strategic stakeholder engagement. She also facilitated productive relationships between the polytechnic and the media, enhancing the institution’s visibility and reputation.

Her commitment and professionalism earned her a Distinguished Service Award in recognition of her impactful service before she transferred her service to Prince Abubakar Audu University.

In her new role as Public Relations Officer, Omale is expected to promote the university’s image and reputation through strategic media engagement and public communication. She will also be responsible for managing internal and external communications, building relationships with media professionals, and coordinating external relations and protocol services within the Office of the Vice-Chancellor.

In a related development, the Vice-Chancellor also approved the appointment of Babaniyi Power Ayo-Olowasimi as Technical Assistant.

Before his appointment, Babaniyi served in several capacities within the institution, including Head of the Management Information System Unit, Administrative and Training Officer, Technical Secretary of the Strategic Planning Committee, member of the Blackboard Integration Team, and most recently Head of the Data Management Unit.

With the new responsibility, he is expected to support the Vice-Chancellor in advancing strategic information and communication technology initiatives, strengthening the university’s digital infrastructure, and promoting innovative technology solutions across the institution.
