The University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, has taken a bold step towards shaping the future of its students by introducing an entrepreneurship, innovation, and business incubation certification programme. Recognizing the indispensable role of small and medium enterprises in driving economic growth, the university hosted a five-day seminar inside the Ade Ajayi main auditorium, drawing attendees from various faculties of the institution and delegates from Babcock University.

Emphasizing the importance of nurturing an entrepreneurial mindset, Prof. Ogunsola, Vice-Chancellor of UNILAG, urged students to expand their thinking and embrace creativity, highlighting the university’s commitment to providing incubators to guide students in developing the skills necessary for success in both the workplace and entrepreneurial ventures. Addressing the students, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Ayodele Atsenuwa underscored the urgency of discarding the passive mindset of waiting for job opportunities, urging students to become proactive creators of employment.

She emphasized that entrepreneurship equips individuals for the future and encourages value creation, urging students to seize the opportunity to unlock their potential. Sunday Adebisi, Director of the Entrepreneurship Centre at UNILAG, delved into practical strategies for converting hobbies, talents, and interests into viable businesses. Adebisi challenged students to overcome limiting beliefs and cited inspiring examples of individuals who transformed their passions into successful enterprises, reinforcing the transformative power of entrepreneurship.
