ABUJA, NIGERIA – The Tinubu Media Support Group (TMSG) has announced that President Bola Tinubu is revitalizing Nigeria’s education sector through creative initiatives that aim to bring substantial improvements. This declaration was made in a statement by the group’s chair, Emeka Nwankpa, and secretary, Dapo Okubanjo.

“The education sector is one that President Tinubu’s administration has been quietly reviving for utmost efficiency in the last year. Even the perennial agitation of tertiary institution’s workforce has been on the decline, resulting in peace on campuses, with calls for strikes also dying down,” the group stated.

The TMSG attributed this positive development to the federal government’s decision to remove universities and other tertiary institutions from the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS) payment platform. The IPPIS had been a longstanding source of conflict between university unions and various administrations since its introduction in 2006.

“But what may end up cementing Tinubu’s place in history in this sector is the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELF), which started only a few days ago but has received well over 60,000 applications from students of federal government institutions,” said the group.

The group explained that President Tinubu had delayed the launch of the interest-free student loan scheme to ensure it also covered students interested in skills acquisition as well as university education. This move is aimed at guaranteeing sustainable higher education and functional skill development for Nigerian students and youths.

The TMSG emphasized that the goal of NELF is to prevent indigent students from dropping out due to financial constraints. The fund is expected to have a significant impact on the development of tertiary institutions, their staff, and students. Furthermore, President Tinubu’s administration is also focusing on addressing the issues of out-of-school children and boosting secondary education.

The support group echoed President Tinubu’s stance, stating that the situation of out-of-school children in Nigeria is unacceptable. They noted that the president has approved comprehensive policies to reduce the number of school-age children roaming the streets.

Through these initiatives, President Tinubu is demonstrating a strong commitment to transforming the Nigerian education sector, ensuring that every child has access to quality education and opportunities for skill development.
