Caleb University, Imota, Lagos, recently concluded its highly anticipated Inaugural Vice Chancellor’s Cup, a dynamic event that showcased outstanding achievements across sports, intellectual pursuits, and leadership among its students. The tournament, which marked a significant milestone for the university, highlighted the institution’s commitment to fostering holistic development among its student body.

In a statement released by Olawale Adekoya, Information, Media, and Publication Specialist, the event was hailed as a resounding success, drawing praise from Prof Nosa Owens-Ibie, the Vice Chancellor, and Prof Sunday Adewale, Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academic. The competition featured spirited contests among departments, with students competing fervently to demonstrate their prowess and claim top honors.

Football, the centerpiece of the tournament, captivated the campus with thrilling matches that ignited spirited debates and discussions on social media. The final match saw a gripping showdown between the Political Science and International Relations team, emerging victorious with a 2-1 triumph over the Computer Science/Cyber Security department, clinching the gold medal.

Adding to the excitement, the Staff Novelty Football Match featured an entertaining clash between academic and administrative staff, with the latter securing a 2-1 victory. The overall medal table saw the Computer Science/Cyber Security department emerge as champions with 66 points, followed by Political Science and International Relations with 30 points, and Accounting securing third place with 19 points.

Beyond football, Caleb University celebrated victories in basketball, track and field events, volleyball, and table tennis, with the Computer Science department demonstrating exceptional prowess across multiple disciplines. The tournament also included strategic board games such as Chess, Monopoly, and Scrabble, showcasing the diverse talents and competitive spirit of the students.

Arch. Christian Odefadehan, acting Director of Sports, praised the event for embodying the university’s core values of excellence, teamwork, and dedication. He emphasized that the Vice Chancellor’s Cup provided a platform for nurturing talent and uncovering latent skills among the student population.
