The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), along with vice-chancellors of universities, rectors of polytechnics, provosts of colleges of education, and other stakeholders in the education sector, will convene on July 18, 2024, to determine the cut-off marks or minimum benchmarks for admissions.

JAMB released the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results on April 29, 2024. Out of the 1,904,189 candidates who sat for the examination, 8,401 scored 300 and above; 77,070 scored 250 and above; 439,974 scored 200 and above, with 1,402,490 scoring below the 200 pass mark.

The forthcoming meeting, which will be chaired by the Minister of Education, Prof Tahir Mamman, aims to set the minimum admission benchmarks for the 2024/2025 academic session. A notice seen by our correspondent in Abuja confirms this agenda.

During the exercise, the JAMB Registrar is expected to present a comprehensive report on the recently concluded UTME and the ongoing Direct Entry applications. The report will include key performance indicators that could influence policy directions concerning admissions for the upcoming academic year.
