The federal government of Nigeria and the United Kingdom have signed eight partnership agreements valued at approximately £272.6 million (N589 billion) to enhance governance, climate change, education, health, and economic development.

The agreements were formalized by Nigeria’s Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu, and UK Charge d’Affaires, Ms. Cynthia Rowe, during a ceremony in Abuja.

The agreements include the Human Assistance and Resilience Program (HARP) with a £150 million budget, aimed at providing humanitarian aid in Northeast Nigeria.

Other key initiatives include the Nigeria Governance and Climate Change Programme (NGCP) with £83.8 million to address climate and governance issues, and the Strengthening Peace and Resilience in Nigeria (SPRING) programme with £38 million to support conflict reduction and climate resilience.
