The Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE) has unveiled its “Zero Waste Campus Project” to advance sustainable waste management and transform waste into valuable resources.

Vice Chancellor Engr. Prof. Rim Rukeh led the launch, highlighting the challenge of plastic waste and the project’s goal to achieve a zero-waste environment through innovative recycling practices.

Dr. Yemi, Director of FUPRE’s Centre for Waste Management, outlined the project’s focus on converting waste into wealth-generating products and showcased student-created items from recycled materials. He emphasized the importance of educating the university community and aligning with international best practices in waste management.

Mr. Ejiro Okodeso, FUPRE’s Chief Environmental Officer, and other speakers, including Weyemi Okotie and Ms. Melody Enyimaya, supported the initiative, urging collaboration and adherence to the project’s blueprint. The event underscored FUPRE’s commitment to becoming a leader in waste management and sustainability.
