Professor Asabe Kabir of the Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, has criticized local attitudes that deny women their social and economic rights, advocating for gender equality.

She argued that efforts to secure equal rights for women are often mischaracterized as radical feminism, which she asserts is distinct from her stance and compatible with major religions like Islam and Christianity.

Professor Kabir emphasized that her advocacy is aimed at providing women with equal access to education and economic opportunities, which she believes are crucial for their empowerment and family support. She highlighted the negative impact of inadequate maternal education on girls’ schooling and remains committed to challenging practices that undermine women’s rights.

Despite facing criticism and stigma, Kabir reaffirmed her dedication to ensuring that all women, particularly in northern Nigeria, recognize their rights and achieve economic stability.
