The Executive Chairman of the Jigawa State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Professor Haruna Musa, has pledged to incorporate the MuKaranta Hausa Literacy for Prosperity module into the state’s primary school curriculum.

He made the announcement during an end-line assessment event held in Dutse, emphasizing the programme’s success in enhancing pupils’ literacy skills.

Professor Musa expressed satisfaction with the programme’s impact, noting significant improvements in pupils’ ability to read and write. He also highlighted ongoing discussions to sustain and expand the initiative to more local governments while urging local communities to support their schools.

The MuKaranta Programme, introduced to 198 schools, has benefited over 22,500 pupils, with literacy rates rising from 2% to 92% in eighteen months. Discussions are underway to extend the programme further in collaboration with the state government and donor partners.
