The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has refuted claims made in a viral video by activist Harrison Gwamnishu, alleging that a 17-year-old girl named Joy Eze was killed on campus and that kidnappings are rampant.
In a statement issued by the university’s Acting Public Relations Officer, Dr. Okwun Omeaku, the management described the allegations as “fake news” meant to cause panic.
The university clarified that no students have been killed or kidnapped, assuring parents and students that the campuses remain safe.
It also emphasized that the institution regularly issues security advisories to ensure students’ safety.
UNN demanded an immediate retraction of the video and a public apology from Gwamnishu, urging the public to disregard the false claims.
