The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has convened the Triple Helix Nigeria Conference in Abuja, bringing together universities and science-based organizations to promote the commercialization of research.

Executive Secretary Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, represented by General Manager of Research and Development, Silas Omomehin Ajimijaye, emphasized the importance of research and innovation as the foundation of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. The conference’s theme, “Integrating Research, Innovation, and Policy: Triple Helix Pathway to Research Commercialisation,” reflects the collaborative efforts needed to enhance local content development.

Ogbe highlighted NCDMB’s commitment to fostering partnerships between universities, research institutions, and industry players to accelerate innovation and wealth generation.

He reiterated the board’s aim to strengthen research and commercialize innovative solutions that cater to the oil industry. The event saw participation from various stakeholders, including university vice chancellors, the Petroleum Training Institute, and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).

Alhaji Abdulmalik Halilu, President of Triple Helix Nigeria and NCDMB Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, underscored the necessity of a structured collaboration between academia and industry to drive research and development. He noted that successful nations in the oil and gas sector, such as the US and Germany, have heavily invested in research.
