Senator Amos Yohanna, representing Adamawa North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, has taken steps to combat poverty and unemployment in Adamawa State by organizing a three-day poultry production training workshop for local youths.

The initiative, aimed at empowering the youth and promoting economic independence, was facilitated in partnership with Kannon Royal Resources Limited and held at the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, Adamawa State. The training, which focused on critical areas of poultry business such as brooding, management practices, biosecurity, disease management, processing, value addition, and marketing, was designed to equip participants with the skills needed to succeed in the poultry industry.

During the opening ceremony, Afeshetu Afegbai, Chairman of Kannon Royal Resources Ltd, emphasized the importance of youth empowerment in nation-building. “If we can harness the energy of our youth for productive purposes and give them proper orientation, we can achieve food security, a decent society, and promote global peace,” Afegbai stated. Dr. Jude Opara, the Provost of the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology in Vom, Plateau State, also addressed the participants, encouraging them to focus on livestock business as a viable income-generating opportunity.

Senator Yohanna, in his address, urged participants to make the most of the knowledge acquired during the workshop. He encouraged them to apply the skills they learned to start and grow successful poultry businesses, thereby contributing to economic development in the region. Through this initiative, Senator Yohanna aims to empower young people in Adamawa State with the tools needed to tackle unemployment and create sustainable livelihoods.
