The Bayelsa State Government has extended the resumption date for public and private schools by one week to allow floodwaters in affected school premises to subside. Originally scheduled for November 18, schools will now resume on Monday, November 25, 2024.
In a circular issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Simon-Peter Okene, the government urged schools to adhere to the approved academic calendar and ensure premises are safe through measures such as fumigation and grass cutting before reopening.
The government also expressed sympathy to residents impacted by the floods.
