The Bauchi State Government has awarded N4 million to four exceptional students who excelled in the 2024 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examinations. Each student, recognized for achieving the highest scores among their peers in the state, received N1 million to support their academic pursuits.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony in Bauchi on Tuesday, Governor Bala Mohammed, represented by the Head of Civil Service, Alhaji Yahuza Adamu, emphasized the government’s commitment to investing in human capital development. He stated, “Education is the foundation of every development. If you want to destroy a generation, destroy their education system.” He added that the gesture aims to inspire other students to strive for academic excellence and highlighted the importance of prioritizing education in the state.

The four honorees—Kawthar Shehu (348), Geoffrey Yakubu (347), Abdullahi Garba (347), and Magaji Umar (333)—were praised for their outstanding achievements. The Governor expressed pride in their success, noting that their performances reflect the progress in the state’s education sector. He urged education officials to build on this momentum and produce even more top performers in the future.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Alhaji Ali Babayo, commended the Governor for fostering a supportive environment for educational advancement. He explained that the recognition was facilitated through a formal request to JAMB for the names of Bauchi’s top-scoring students. On behalf of the parents, Malam Ali Garba expressed gratitude to the government, stating that the financial support would greatly aid the students’ higher education journeys.
