Lagos, Nigeria – Leading integrated payments and digital commerce company, Interswitch, has reiterated its commitment to fostering science-related education across Nigeria and Africa through its annual national science competition, InterswitchSpark.

The company made this pledge while announcing the winners of the sixth edition of the competition, aimed at identifying, celebrating, and encouraging outstanding young talents in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) among secondary school students.

The competition, which is free and open to all secondary school students in Nigeria, saw an impressive participation of over 16,000 students this year. At the grand finale, Henry Ndudu Ekong from Pegasus School, Akwa Ibom State, emerged as the overall winner. He was closely followed by Eric Denyefa Omare from St. Gregory’s College, Lagos, who secured the second position, while David Umeojiaka from Graceland International School, Rivers State, took third place.

Speaking at the event, Interswitch emphasized its dedication to equipping young minds with the skills needed to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world. The initiative aligns with the company’s broader vision of empowering African youths through quality education and digital transformation.
