The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has released the results of the 2024 November/December West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates. The announcement was made by Dangut Amos, Head of the National Office, WAEC Nigeria, on Sunday, February 16, 2025. According to a statement issued by Moyosola Adesina, WAEC’s Head of Public Affairs, a total of 65,023 candidates sat for the examination across various centres in Nigeria.

The results show an improvement in performance compared to previous years. Out of the total candidates, 34,878 (53.64%) obtained credits and above in at least five mandatory subjects, including English and Mathematics. This marks a 9.35% increase compared to the 44.29% pass rate in 2023 and 42.16% in 2022. The breakdown also revealed that female candidates outperformed their male counterparts, with 17,992 females (51.58%) meeting the credit requirement, compared to 16,886 males (48.41%).

While the majority of candidates had their results fully processed, 2,669 candidates (4.1%) are still awaiting their results due to errors in their registration or scripts. Additionally, WAEC disclosed that the results of 2,577 candidates (3.98%) have been withheld due to suspected cases of examination malpractice. Investigations are ongoing to determine if these results will be released or canceled.

Candidates can check their results through the WAEC online portal using their examination details. WAEC reassured candidates and the public of its commitment to maintaining examination integrity and improving educational standards in Nigeria.
