Owerri, March 3, 2025 – The Charles Obinna Foundation (COF), a leading civil society organization, has announced a Free JAMB Registration Support Programme for 1,000 indigent students across the 27 local government areas (LGAs) of Imo State.
Prof. Bongo Adi, the Foundation’s Executive Director, revealed this in a statement on Monday, describing the initiative as part of COF’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) to promote educational access and equity.
Launch Event and Eligibility
The official launch of the programme is scheduled for Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri Auditorium Hall. Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, will be the Special Guest of Honor at the event.
According to Prof. Adi, the initiative aims to bridge the gap in educational opportunities by covering the full cost of JAMB registration for 40 academically promising students from each LGA in the state. He emphasized that COF was moved by the financial barriers that prevent many talented students from low-income families from accessing higher education.
“This is a groundbreaking initiative aimed at democratizing access to tertiary education,” he said. “We are working with the Imo State Ministry of Education and local educators to ensure transparency in the selection process.”
Call for Applications
COF urged eligible students to apply through their respective LGA coordinators, as the identification and selection process is ongoing across all 27 LGAs. Students who require assistance with JAMB registration should report to Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri Auditorium by 9 a.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2025.
The deadline for applications is Friday, March 7, 2025. Prof. Adi encouraged community leaders, educators, and parents to spread awareness about the opportunity to ensure all deserving students benefit.
