Abuja, Nigeria – President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of 11 new private universities in Nigeria. The approvals were granted during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting, as confirmed by Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman.

In a statement announcing the approvals, the presidency emphasized the administration’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities and infrastructure. “President Tinubu is committed to expanding the frontiers of educational opportunities and infrastructure,” the statement read.

With the addition of these newly approved institutions, Nigeria’s number of private universities will rise from 147 to 158, further broadening access to higher education across the country.

The approval aligns with the government’s broader agenda to enhance the quality of tertiary education and address the growing demand for university placements.
