The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has commenced a thorough investigation into reports of technical glitches experienced by some candidates during this year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The board disclosed that it is taking the allegations seriously and is determined to identify the root causes of the reported disruptions.
To ensure a credible and transparent investigation, JAMB has engaged the expertise of key stakeholders, including vice chancellors of Nigerian universities, IT specialists from the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria, and Chief External Examiners. These experts will collaborate to review the examination process, assess the validity of the complaints, and recommend appropriate remedies for any verified technical issues.
In a statement released yesterday in Abuja, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, emphasized the board’s commitment to fairness and accuracy in the conduct of the national examination. He assured candidates and the general public that the investigation would be conducted with the utmost integrity and professionalism.
“The board is committed to ensuring that no candidate is unduly disadvantaged by circumstances beyond their control,” Dr. Benjamin stated. “We are working with seasoned professionals to examine every reported case and provide redress where necessary.”
The 2025 UTME was conducted across various accredited centers nationwide, and while the process was largely smooth, isolated reports of system failures and login issues surfaced on social media and in complaints lodged by candidates. Some candidates claimed they were unable to complete their exams due to sudden disruptions, prompting calls for a review.
JAMB has urged candidates who experienced difficulties to remain patient as the investigation unfolds. The board also reiterated its dedication to improving the integrity and efficiency of the UTME process, noting that technological innovations, while useful, must be continually refined to ensure a seamless experience for all candidates.
