Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), was overcome with emotion on Wednesday as he publicly apologised for the errors recorded in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). During a press briefing in Abuja, the usually composed academic broke into tears while addressing the challenges that affected some candidates, acknowledging that lapses in the examination process had caused distress for thousands of students nationwide.

Prof. Oloyede expressed deep regret over the situation, stating that despite JAMB’s best efforts to ensure a seamless examination, technical glitches and human errors undermined the integrity of the process. He assured the public that the board was already working on corrective measures and would ensure no candidate was unfairly disadvantaged. “We take full responsibility,” he said, wiping tears, “and we are committed to restoring trust in our examination system.”
