Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed appreciation to the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for its consistent support in advancing basic education for children in the state. Speaking at an event in Kano, the governor highlighted UNICEF’s critical role in strengthening educational access and promoting child welfare initiatives that align with the state’s development goals.

As part of efforts to improve the welfare of educators, Governor Yusuf announced the approval of a N200 million vehicle loan for primary and secondary school teachers across Kano State. He said the initiative is aimed at enhancing staff motivation and improving the efficiency of the teaching workforce, noting that a well-supported teacher base is essential for delivering quality education.

The governor emphasized that his administration remains committed to investing in human capital development, especially through education. He noted that teachers are at the core of this agenda and must be empowered to fulfill their responsibilities effectively. The vehicle loan scheme, he added, is just one of several interventions designed to uplift the standard of education in the state.

In recognition of its enduring partnership, Governor Yusuf also presented an award to UNICEF, commending the organization for its efforts in the emancipation and protection of children in Kano. He reaffirmed his government’s commitment to working closely with development partners to ensure that every child in Kano has access to quality, inclusive, and equitable education.
