Lagos State University (LASU) has recorded another significant stride in its academic advancement with the approval of four new full-time undergraduate programmes by the National Universities Commission (NUC), further cementing its position as a forward-thinking, technology-driven institution.

The approval was disclosed in a statement signed by Oluwayemisi Thomas-Onashile, Deputy Registrar and Coordinator of the Centre for Information and Public Relations, on Tuesday, 18th November 2025. According to the release, the NUC’s nod follows a rigorous resource verification exercise conducted by expert panels who evaluated LASU’s readiness in terms of human and material resources.

In a letter dated 3rd November 2025 and signed by the Acting Director of Academic Planning, Mr. Abubakar M. Girei, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the NUC, the Commission authorised LASU to commence the following programmes from the 2025/2026 academic session:

• B.Sc. Cyber Security
• B.Sc. Software Engineering
• B.Sc. Information and Communication Technology
• B.Sc. Data Science

The introduction of these programmes reflects LASU’s commitment to offering cutting-edge education that aligns with global technological trends. The university noted that the approval currently applies exclusively to full-time study modes.

By broadening its academic portfolio, LASU reinforces its mission to develop highly skilled professionals equipped to thrive in Nigeria’s digital economy and compete favourably on the global stage.
